Highway 18 Road Construction

Beginning March 10, 2008, renovation will begin on Highway 18 (Racine Street) in Jefferson.  The first phase of the project will close Highway 18 at the far east end of Jefferson, (almost to St. Coletta’s).  Traffic coming from the east will be detoured using Highway Y.  On or around April 20, 2008, the road closures will be expanded to include Highway 18 immediately after crossing the Racine Street bridge.  West bound traffic will be detoured down Wisconsin Drive and ultimately out to Highway 89.  These closures will remain in place until October 13th. 

As a result of these detours, JBS buses will need to modify their pick up and drop off times to ensure that students arrive at school on time.  We are currently estimating that all routes (with the exception of Sullivan Elementary School routes) will arrive 10-15 minutes earlier in the morning and arrive back to their designated stops 10-15 minutes later in the afternoon.  Again, if your children attend Sullivan Elementary School, their routes should remain the same. 

As the project progresses, it will be important for students to ask their drivers if any additional changes are being made.  Some students will not feel comfortable requesting information so we encourage parents to contact JBS at (920) 674-5112 extension 221 or via e-mail at Kathy@jeffersonbus.net.
